Love According to Bob

I saw this from Goodreads and I felt the need to share this to everyone. We all crave for love. Do read on and tell me what you think.
“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around.
You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more.
You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you.
When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement.
They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself.
Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful.
There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around.
You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are.
The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever.
Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant.
Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all.
A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face.
In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby.
Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you.
You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon.
You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible.
You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you.
You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end.
Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.”

Dealing with Negativity in Binibining Pilipinas

I know joining Bb. Pilipinas would mean allowing everyone to have a say on your beauty and I am not new to getting negative comments on how I look.

I found out at an early age how most of the Filipinos prefer ladies with fair skin and those who are half blood.

Here are just some of harsh words that some people told me.

1. You are ugly.
2. You don't have the face to make it to a pageant.
3. You look like our maid/katulong.
4. Your teeth is ugly.
5. You look like one of the girls who are out at night looking for foreigners.
6. You will never make it.
7. You are just intelligent, join a quiz bee not a pageant.
8. You are weak and useless.
9. No guy will ever love you.
10. Why did you make it to the final 50 candidates, there are prettier girls than you.

What do I say to them?

I say nothing. I am the type of girl who would never let other's judgment put me down. I have been dealing with negativity since I was young.  After being told I don't have the looks to make it to a pageant, I trained hard and won First Runner Up in Bb. Ormoc 2009. What I do is simple, I use those negativity to push me further up. It makes me work harder and I always see it as a challenge to prove them wrong. The only mistake one can make in this life is to allow people to get the best of you and ruin your life. Always think past the negativity, being positive with yourself and surrounding yourself with the supportive people are the only options to make the most out of life. Be happy, not everyone will like you but make sure to live a life that will make you into someone you yourself will love. Beauty will always be more than a physical attribute. People can judge you on how you look. Beauty from within will always be eternal and it's the kind of beauty that makes this world livable and beautiful. So don't fret and ditch the negativity.

Consequences of Fear

I admittedly have spent majority of my life feeding those monsters called fear. As a kid, I feared embarrassment. Going to a private school and having classmates who were well off made me feel like my worth was lesser. Throughout my academic life I have been teased and taunted and I have cried.I was laughed at way back in elementary because the last minute, they all of the sudden decided to not include me in a dance presentation. I was called worthless by some boy scouts in high school. They called weak due to my migraine which caused fainting spells.  College I was told by a certain instructor that I didn't have the face needed to be in a pageant. I felt ashamed that time, I would have never screened if not for my classmates. My mom even sometimes accuses me of things that I would never do. A boy once said no one would ever love me again. Another one said I was a low class woman and that I was not worth his time.

Going through all that made me think that living in the shadows was best. I was then almost consumed by those judgement that later on became seeds which bear countless fears. I only realized those fear were nothing. That I have power over them. It was then when I dared and defied my fears. Letting fear get the best of you robs away you right to be happy, your right to live the way you want. They say a bit of fear is good but too much of it is crippling.

Here below is a post by Wong Mei Ching
This post was taken from Mays Closet

Fear is one of the most adaptable human emotion, and can also have the longest lasting effects. It affect people physically and mentally, and can result in trauma that can take years of therapy to correct.
Many phobias are firmly rooted in irrational fear, which should not be confused with rational fear – which is a healthy survival tool. Emotions that have their root in fear include apprehension, terror, panic and dread.
Fear is a biological reaction that has been embedded into our system for self-preservation. We share it with animals. In human beings, however, the fear reaction develops into deeper levels of complexity and subtlety that engender a wide variety of downstream secondary emotions.

The following are the secondary derivative emotions of fear:

* Worry is a mechanism of our psyche that prompts us to do something. The prompting energy is fear – usually fear of some consequence. Because it is fear, the person tends to avoid thinking about it. Thus worry tends to perpetuate itself in a circular way – the fear causes non-action, and non-action further causes worry.
* Anxiety is a fear whose object is nonspecific or vague, whereas worry is about something specific and identified. Anxiety is the result of repeated unprocessed fears that have accumulated in one’s subconscious. It has become a vague feeling about an impending misfortune but which cannot be dealt with because it is unspecified. To resolve it, it must first be converted to specific worries, and then one can apply the guidelines on how to handle worry.
* Panic is an overwhelming fear that makes the person confused and unclear about what to do. This is the accumulated result of many fears, worries and anxieties that have not been resolved and not been handled well. It sometimes results in panic attacks, those inexplicable feelings that may not have any immediate cause but which just manifests in the person.
* Phobias are fear-reactions that are (a) out of proportion to the actual danger, such as jumping and shrieking at the sight of a rat or cockroach, or (b) irrational, such as trembling when seeing the photo of a spider.
* Trauma is a psychological “wound” that can still cause distress in a person. Strictly speaking, acquired fears are really traumas in varying degrees of intensity. But a trauma becomes pathological when it causes periodic distress such as nightmares, intense reactions to anything that reminds one of it, or it severely disturbs one’s daily life and work. .
* Envy is a more complex emotion, since it’s a mixture of a number of things: low self-esteem, resentment, and fear. We don’t envy the successes or achievements of those whom we can identify with, that is, those whom we love and care for. Their achievements are vicariously ours too. On the other hand, the achievements of those whom we cannot identify with, particularly those whom we resent, are felt as threats to our own self-esteem.
* Embarrassment involves a “loss of face” and being confused and perplexed at the same time. The embarrassment may not have been caused by anyone, as when one slips and falls down “disgracefully.” Hence there is no cause for anger toward anyone (except perhaps oneself). The action is withdrawal and hiding, not wanting to face people. At its root is the fear of what people might think or say. Shame is a similar feeling.

Fear not only engenders secondary or derivative emotions, but also certain psychological states or personality characteristics:
  • Insecurity is a subtle and chronic psychological state of being unable to cope. It is rooted in fear, and is somewhat different from the felt flow of emotions like anxiety or panic. It is the outcome of the subconscious accumulation of fears. A person is hardly aware of the feelings connected with insecurity, but will nevertheless behave according to these fears. When the various forms of fear are resolved through self-awareness processing, however, the sense of insecurity disappears.
  • Low Self-esteem is another state of being that is characterized by poor self-regard, insecurity, the desire to be loved and appreciated. It is no longer an emotion, but an attitude or psychological state. But it is rooted in distressful experiences that have not been properly processed, and which have sunk deeply into the subconscious.
So all in all…. FEAR is the mother of all negative emotions. Our first very important task, is to stop ourselves the next time we experience any negative emotion, and think – what’s the root to that fear, and if it that big a deal… before we go on a ramping rage destroying everything in sight.
I know… easier said than done. But let’s just at least try.

A List of Why's

Why am I alone?

A: Because you allow yourself to be away from everybody else. Trying going out every now and then.

Why am I sad?

A: Because your focus is directed towards negative things. There is no such thing a person who has no reason to smile. Try to tap into it when you're sad.

Why do we feel pain?

A: Because we have nerves and brains that tells us. As for emotional pain, because we are human? haha.. Pain is inescapable. Live with it. Just learn to divert. Sometimes pain triggers new discoveries. Pain comes with comfort. Everything in this world in dual. As a matter is to an anti matter, as love is to hate, as life is to death and so on and so forth...

Why do people say I'm immature?

A: Because you are not fully aware of the things you do. Being irresponsible and insensitive to every opposite reaction makes you down right careless thus immaturity coming into play. Think before you speak or do anything. Science tells us that every action has an equal opposite reaction. Be aware. Start to care more and learn to look from various perspectives.

Why do people die?

A: We are not perfect. If we were perfect, death would not exist. We are not like God though we strive to be. It sets us apart from him. He is the creator we are His creations we come with expiry dates. What's important is we live according to His will.

Why are men insensitive and pathetic?

A: Don't blame it on men. Blame it on yourself for giving them a chance to hurt you. Stop obsessing about men you like who in reality don't care about you. They are not insensitive. They are just not interested in you. Wait for the right man for you. Then you're thoughts of men will probably change. If they are pathetic for you then look for better ones.

Why am I single?

A: Because you haven't found someone who makes you happy. Just wait but don't put yourself in a box. The box represents your high standards that are keeping you from meeting good guys. Don't be too demanding. You're not perfect either.

Why is everything complicated in this world?

A: Because we were given great minds. We have complex minds thus we make this world so complicated. Try living simply to see the reason behind the phenomenon of complexity.

Facing Reality

Earlier today, I was so pissed off which ended with me getting swollen knuckles.

I was just letting my frustrations go physically that is. Maybe all the emotional burden got the best out of me.

Last night was the same, I was complaining about how men were.

A friend said to me last night that I should not keep on digging up the past. I was guilty of it. I never was the type of person who would find closure alone.

I always needed that the person involved tell me upfront since I'm like that. But I guess sometime, you have to learn to let go on your own.

Then as I read through the text of He's Just Not That Into You again, there were flashbacks of my past relationship.

How I wished that I read this book 6years ago I wouldn't have wasted my time with him. I really think that what kept me hanging on to him despite all the things he did was the same with that the battered wife's syndrome.

A syndrome that involved women thinking overly positive about a relationship that's clearly abusive. Due to the fairy tale concepts that were injected to us when we were young. I myself am guilty of the common line " He will be different tomorrow, he will be better, we will be happier." Probably it has something with one's ego.

It's hard to accept that you picked the wrong guy and give up all the efforts you made just to keep him with you. Even-though I saw a lot of reasons to break up with him I kept holding on. I ended up being brutally hurt. It was only after the inhumane break up that I realized those things and like what the book said have faith that there is a better man out there for you.

Despite the small number of good men out there. You will find one if you are only open to it and if you believe. It's no secret. Faith can definitely move mountains. Just hang on and do go for guys who are not in your standards. Keep your standards simple and achievable.

When I was a teenager I was so damn idealistic which only makes you frustrated as you grow older. About staying in a relationship, it is easy to judge whether or not to hang on to a relationship or to wait for that person.

If he makes you happy and if he shows that he love you then that man is really in love with you.

If not, stop making excuses for him. It won't change the fact. You should just give it up and give yourself a chance to find someone better.

It's better to be single than be with someone who is a burden to you. In all things, always consider yourself before anything else but be sensitive to others as well.

It is in loving oneself that you learn to love others. It has been said before.

We all know well the golden rule. Just try to understand it deeper.

Every person's actions are derived from what is in his mind and heart. Get a clue. Reality maybe harsh. You are in this real world and not some Wonderland. You won't go wrong if you know what makes you happy and have faith in it.

It's not the circumstances that make men great. It is the choices that we make despite those trivial life events.

Stop hiding and deceiving yourself. It will not get you anywhere but in a junkyard filled with regrets and sorrow. Listen to what your heart tells you. We have instincts for a reason.

The basic philosophy that will get you far is simple. If you are happy with it keep it, leave if you're not.

The world is wide. Don't put yourself in a box. Open up to the world and in return it will do the same to you. Reality >> face it,learn from it and love every moment of it.

A NEW MORNING (MISA DE GALLO)

Last night was a sad one for me. I felt lonely and I began to wallow in what other's may call the Holiday blues. I began to think that this Christmas would be like the past Christmas. While I was online, I fell asleep and I woke up to the voice of my sister saying it was time to go to the Misa de Gallo.
Misa de Gallo is the Spanish phrase for Midnight mass, more literally translated as "Rooster's Mass".It is said that the "Rooster's Mass" owes its name to the idea that a rooster would have been among the first to witness the birth of Jesus, and thus be the one to announce it.

As the mass started, I was still a bit sleepy and sad. Then after the readings came the homily. The priest started to talk and he kept on reiterating  "And morning came...". At first it was a bit annoying but then he explained it later on. He said that today was a new morning. We should start pondering on what each morning means to us. Like in the bible, a new morning meant another day of creation was done or when Peter denied Jesus and the cock had crow. It was after his homily that I started to think about how I felt every morning was as Christmas is approaching.

Most of those who are away from their loved ones may feel the same way as I did. As the day continue to grow so does our sadness. We start to think that Christmas is just like another ordinary day. WE become drenched in negativeness. We think that we are all alone for various reasons. Some maybe sad because the are far from their family. Others maybe sad because the have no special someone to celebrate the season with. I personally felt sad because of those things. My mother is in the U.S and we haven't spent Christmas with her for two years already and my father is with another family. I don't have a special someone as well. For the past two years, I have been spending Christmas with nobody else but my sister. Last year, we were not able to go to the Misa de Gallo and even the Christmas Eve mass because my sister had her appendectomy. I was busy caring for her since her movements and activities were limited.  I was sad last year though I received gifts and had a delicious Noche buena. I kept on remembering these things til yesterday. I thought that this Christmas would be blue like last year. The homily made me think otherwise.

Every morning is always a brand new start. It signals the end of a day and the start of a new one. Christmas is not about who you're with  or what you have but with who you have. It should always be a celebration of love. You have all the reason to be happy. God gave up his precious son for us. That alone is good reason to be happy and it doesn't matter whether your far from your loved one or that you don't have a love life. We should be thankful for the people we have that continues to love us. Christmas should be a celebration of the gift of life. God blessed us with wonderful people around us yet we continue to take them for granted. We keep on focusing on ourselves or material stuffs that we fail to recognize that we have the best gifts. Our life, our family, our friends and Jesus. These  gifts are more than for us to be happy in a lifetime. Through them we feel how God loves us. A constant reminder of how blessed we are despite the problems and troubles that we face.

For those who are feeling blue think about these things. Keep in mind that every morning is a new day. A new opportunity to make your life and another person's life better. A new gift from God that should be enjoyed. Add and multiply happiness and subtract sadness this Christmas and for all the days to come. It is only you that can give yourself the one of the most priceless gift and that is true happiness.
